Go Green For the Red
At WashU, The Lotus began the Go Green for the Red initiative where free, reusable period products were distributed to WashU students. The products were collected by the university and The Lotus served to help allocate them and distribute the products to students across the university. Students could collect products through the accessible methods of tabling events, campus mailing, or pick up at the rec center, making these necessary products easily accessible and convenient. This initiative serves to address both sustainability in women’s health care as well as facilitate universal access to these necessary menstrual products.

Menstrual Product Dispensaries Refill
One issue that WashU faced with its menstrual product dispensers was that it was hard to keep track of supply and keep them stocked, leading to low access to necessary menstrual products for students. In order to combat this issue, The Lotus helped keep menstrual product dispensaries around Washington University stocked and created QR-codes that students could fill out which helped to keep track of supply and keep the dispensaries stocked since the 2024 Spring Semester. In addition, The Lotus also talked to professors, staff, facilities department, and the student union at this school to find a better, attainable, and consistent solution for this issue. A similar project is also in the works at The Lotus’s NYU chapter. These projects facilitate the accessibility of menstrual products around the university to all students and exemplifies The Lotus’s goal to provide these products to all who need it.
